Ingenero announced as preferred developer for 2.1MW Cloncurry Solar Farm

Ingenero announced as preferred developer for 2.1MW Cloncurry Solar Farm

December 2, 2011

Queensland Government names Ingenero as the top tender for building a solar farm at Cloncurry, east of Mount Isa.

Minister for Energy and Water Utilities Stephen Robertson made the announcement today at Cloncurry, emphasising the calibre of all 19 tender applications.

Ingenero General Manager of Generation Rodger Whitby said the Cloncurry tender marks the peak of a very successful year for Ingenero.

“After completing Australia’s largest flat-panel solar installation at the University of Queensland in July and recently commencing work at the Hervey Bay Community Solar Farm, this announcement has topped off an extremely good year for Ingenero,” Mr Whitby said.

“Having been selected as preferred tenderer, our task now is to finalise the contract negotiations with the Queensland Government and the Cloncurry Shire Council so the solar farm can be built by the end of 2012” he said.

The 2.128MW Cloncurry Solar Farm will cost $6.76 million, which will be supported by a $5.7 million Queensland Government investment, and will generate 3,700MW hours of power per year, enough energy to power approximately 500 households.

The electricity generated will feed into the Mount Isa/Cloncurry electricity network and will offset approximately 76,770 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions in its lifetime.
