What are STCs or the solar rebate?
Small scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are similar to the now superseded Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), having replaced them on 1 January 2011. Both concepts are not something that most people are familiar with when they buy a solar power system and can be confusing. That’s why at Ingenero we make it simple for you, by managing all your paperwork and deductions so all you need to think about is the final price.
Like the RECs they replaced, STCs are simply a means for applying a rebate or price reduction on your solar system. Your rebate depends on how many STCs the system you buy qualifies for.
Think of an STC as currency where one megawatt hour of power equals one STC. Each of our solar systems has an STC value depending on how much power it generates. This value is what determines your price reduction.
When you buy a solar power system through us, we take into account the value of the system’s STCs and reduce the price of your system accordingly. Don’t worry, you won’t have to work this out because we do it all for you – making the whole process really simple.
