The Nature Conservation Council of NSW is launching the North Shore Solar Challenge, a community based campaign that aims to achieve the installation of solar panels on 1,000 North Shore homes by the end of 2010.
Homes in Sydney’s North Shore have some of the highest carbon footprints in NSW, averaging 32% higher than the rest of the state. Solar power has the potential to dramatically reduce these households' greenhouse gas emissions.
The NSW government is offering 60 cents for every kilowatt hour of energy produced by solar power systems installed on household roofs. This means it has never been easier nor more cost effective to install solar. The Nature Conservative Council would like to see every roof in NSW fitted with a solar panel - it is a critical component of making NSW the clean energy state.
That's why the Nature Conservation Council is launching the North Shore Solar Challenge in partnership with Ingenero.
