9th June 2009

Brisbane based solar energy company, Ingenero, has been named as one of three suppliers to roll out the $60m Queensland Government Solar and Efficiency Program in Queensland State Schools Program. The program aims to, not only aid in reaching the Queensland Government Towards Q2 and ClimateSmart 2050 policy targets of a 5% reduction in energy usage by 2010 and a 20% reduction in energy usage by 2015, but it will also be an important platform to educate and encourage tomorrow’s leaders to think responsibly on energy usage.Ingenero’s CEO, Steve McRae, said this was an important part of the program.

“Educating our future leaders in sustainable living, is a key component in securing the Queensland and Australian environment for the years to come, “he said. “This program is a great initiative by the Queensland Government and is setting not only an example for Queensland school communities but to State Governments nation-wide,” he continued. “Ingenero is extremely proud to be a major part of this project and is looking forward to assisting in making it happen,” he concluded. The program will be rolled out over 2 years and will see all of Queensland’s 1317 state schools generating and consuming solar power, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and influencing the behaviour of entire school communities.
