New 500kW hybrid solar farm to help power Vava'u, Tonga - 17 May 2013

The first solar panels are now in place at the site of a new 500 kilowatt (kW) hybrid solar farm on the Island of Vava’u in Tonga. The solar farm incorporates ground-mounted photovoltaic panels and battery storage technology that is fully integrated with the island’s diesel power station.

National renewable energy company Ingenero has completed Australia's largest solar photovoltaic installation at The University of Queensland's (UQ) St Lucia campus. The vast 1.2 megawatt (MW) solar system - launched today by the Queensland Minister for Energy and Water Utilities, Stephen Robertson MP - spans 11 rooftops and effectively coats four campus buildings with over 5000 polycrystalline silicon solar panels.
